Ian Spiby
I was Head of the Performance Studies Division at the University of Northampton for 18 years. My research focused on Applied Theatre, using theatrical techniques in non-theatrical settings. In this capacity I have worked with national and international organisations, including the NHS. I have written two books on Applied Theatre and have presented programmes on BBC Radio 3, 4 and 5.
An early project involved working with Chris Gillespie on the rehabilitation of long-term patients in a psychiatric hospital. I have been involved with the Knuston Diabetes Counselling Course since 1999, bringing my interest in communication and experiential learning to the programme.
